Low Tide Lighthouse
Low Tide Lighthouse grew out of my years as a foster parent and advocate within the foster care system.
When I first entered foster care, I believed I was simply opening my home to help a child in need. What I quickly learned was that foster care is far more complex than most people realize. Behind every child is a story of trauma, loss, resilience, and systems that don’t always work the way we hope they will.
During my years fostering, my home was filled with children navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Those experiences opened my eyes to both the beauty and the heartbreak within the foster care system.
Low Tide Lighthouse exists to bring honesty, education, and deeper understanding to conversations about foster care and adoption. It is a place where prospective foster parents, adoptive families, and advocates can learn about the realities of this work and the support families truly need.
The goal is not to discourage people from fostering, but to prepare them with truth, compassion, and a clearer understanding of what the journey can look like.
